Lactation Support Services
Nursing your baby is more than providing a meal; it’s a wonderful, healthy way to bond with and comfort your baby. Studies have shown breastfeeding prevents many childhood illnesses and reduces the risk of certain cancers for mom. Extensive research has established that breast milk is the superior method of feeding your baby. Contact one of our certified Lactation Specialists for breastfeeding consultations and assistance.
Dads & Doulas
Partners are an important part of the labor process and doulas do not replace the presence of your partner; we enhance it. Partners may be interested in various levels of participation during the birth of their child. A doula will discuss their level of interest during prenatal visits and will provide suggestions and support during the labor process to help your partner be as active as he/she would like to be without the pressure of "doing it right".
For many partners, the presence of a doula frees them from the responsibility of being your only support person so he/she can focus on being loving, supportive and emotionally involved in the birth of your child. They often realize that they, too, need reassurance and guidance during the birth experience. Doulas support the entire family.
How Our Service Works
A meeting is set with the Doula to become acquainted and discuss your priorities and desires. We will review any childbirth education and design a personal birth plan. Once contracted, the Doula will be on call as your due date approaches. Constant phone support is available. There will always be a backup Doula on call as well. Because we are a team of Doulas, we can guarantee that you will not be alone. Once mom is in labor, we are there to support mom until after baby's birth. We stay 1-2 hours after the birth or until mom is comfortable with our leaving. A follow up visit, as well as phone support when needed, completes the service.
Payment For Our Services
Each doula sets her own prices for services. We offer free consultation prior to decision about using our services. Our fees include:
Fees are based on the experience of the doula and the going rate in the area. However, most doulas will work with you, set up a sliding scale, or payment plans to help those who can't afford a doula. So, do not let this keep you from hiring a doula. Just contact us and we will go over all the information. Clients may also want to check their flex spending account policies for further payment assistance.
