Cindy Trainor is a Registered Nurse who is certified as a Lamaze instructor and a Labor Doula. She is also approved as a Labor Doula trainer. Cindy retired as the Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Birth Center at St. John's Hospital and the Doula Program Coordinator. Labor support is Cindy's passion. She has cared for many families in her 33 year career, always keeping in mind that birth memories last forever.
"Focusing on the family and their plans for birth is the most important part of a doula's role. Caring for the mom is usually my top priority, but I never forget the other members of her support team that also need the guidance from a doula."
Before becoming a doula, Cindy taught nursing students for 21 years at St. John's College.
"I wanted them to always remember that people were much more important than monitors. Technology is a wonderful thing but never forget that the mom is in labor, not the machine recording her contractions and the baby's heart rate. We must make each birth as special and personally fulfilling as we can for that mom and her family. I love walking the journey of labor with my clients."
Cindy and her husband have a blended family of 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
